CSM Training Course Overview
The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) course is a foundational professional training that teaches the principles and practices of Scrum, an agile framework for managing complex work. It helps learners understand Scrum roles, events, artifacts, and how to support teams to collaborate more effectively. This course is suitable for anyone aspiring to become a Scrum Master or improve team agility.
ProdLean’s CSM training typically delivers interactive, practical instruction led by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST®) recognized by Scrum Alliance. Participants engage in real-world examples, exercises, and case studies to learn how Scrum functions in diverse industries beyond IT. Upon completion, attendees are eligible to take the Scrum Alliance certification exam.
The curriculum emphasizes hands-on application, covering how to facilitate Scrum events (like daily standups and sprint reviews) and remove impediments the team encounters. Learners also gain insights into servant leadership and coaching skills essential for effective Scrum Masters. The course prepares professionals to immediately apply agile practices in workplace scenarios.

CSM Certification & Exam Details
To become a Certified ScrumMaster, you must first attend the official CSM training delivered by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer (CST). After finishing the typically 2-day (≈16-hour) course, you receive access to the Scrum Alliance exam. The certification exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, and you need to answer at least 37 correctly (74%) to pass. Scrum Alliance includes two free exam attempts within 90 days of course completion.
Once you pass the exam, you must accept the Scrum Alliance license agreement and complete your profile to receive the official CSM badge and digital certificate. Certification is valid for two years, and renewal requires earning Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and a renewal fee. Achieving CSM also grants a complimentary two-year Scrum Alliance membership, which gives access to community resources and learning opportunities.
